Mission

The Dubuque Soccer Club's mission is to provide competitive and recreational soccer programs for Boy's and Girl's between the ages of 3-19. Our high quality instruction guides players as they develop, based on their commitment, ability, and desire to compete. At every level of development, the club will provide superior coaching to all players, regardless of ability or economic circumstance, in a fun learning environment. The club strives to help each player realize their potential as a soccer player while using the sport to teach the values of personal fitness, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

Values and Principles

Every player is valuable.

We believe that every player brings something special to the team. While we recognize not every player has the same level of skill, every player will receive the same level of attention and training from our coaches (this does not mean equal playing time).

Every player has room for improvement.

All players will be put in situations that challenge them, as we believe this encourages growth. Coaches will evaluate a players developmental status and provide appropriate opportunities to help them reach their full potential. No one gets to "hide".

Every player is unique.

Our coaching staff will constantly be assessing where your player is in their development, and will continue to help them along their journey. We recognize that children develop physically and skillfully at different rates and will work to find the best way to continue their development.

Well-rounded athletes make better players.

There is evidence that participation in multiple sports can aid in overall athletic development. A certain level of participation is expected to be part of DSC, but coaches will work with parents and athletes when conflicts arise.

Focus on development first.

Developing players will be prioritized over winning in all programs through U12. It is more important at these ages to form a strong foundation than to win games at its expense. We have found this makes our Junior and Senior Academy programs more competitive in the long run, and keeps players involved in the sport longer.
