Jason Berna joined the Dubuque Soccer club in 2002. He currently serves as the Director of the Developmental Soccer program. The Developmental program is 6 week Spring, Summer and Fall entry level soccer program for kids ages 3 to 9 years old. He is directly responsible for setting the curriculum for that program, finding qualified coaches, and over all administration start to finish each season. Jason has severed as the head coach for several different DSC club teams boys and girls over the past 25 years.
Berna also is the Head Women’s Soccer coach at the University of Dubuque with an overall record of 204-137-27. He was named IIAC Women's Coach of the year in 2005, 2009, 2012, and 2013. As the Women's Coach, he has coached: 72 All-Conference athletes, 16 All-Region performers, three Conference MVP, 118 Academic All-Conference student-athletes and two academic All-American Berna graduated from Loras College in 2001 and played four years, was a three-time All-Iowa Conference selection, and three-year captain. He also trained and played in 1999 with the Des Menace PDL team for one summer before tearing his ACL for the second time. Berna has also severed as an Iowa Olympic Development State Staff coach for over a decade.
Berna holds the highest coaching license offered by the United States Soccer Federation, an "A" License as well as his NSCAA Goal Keeping License.
Berna received a Master's degree in Physical Education and Athletic Administration and an Undergraduate degree in Sports Science from Loras College in 2001 and 1999. He and his wife Nicole reside in Dubuque with their four children, James, Isabelle, Sophia and Jack.
